People have different opinions on this topic or subject. Some think this is just a waste of time in entrepreneurship. We should focus only on the work, getting things done, establishing the business, and generating revenue for the business. Some think this is really important because it gives the people inside the business clarity and accountability for their responsibilities.
For me, both parties have good arguments on their side. But from my experience helping entrepreneurs build multiple businesses, I think it is good to have clarity about what we are solving, what we are doing in the firm, what responsibilities people have, what the expected outcomes of the work will be, and what we are trying to achieve financially.
Having a clear idea about the work helps the firm accomplish more. It also helps everyone understand whether the business will become a successful venture or not, and if so, when and how.
